Frequently Asked Questions
Are we able to operate legally?
Yes! We will be formed* as a 508c1a Religious Organization that has a full-time children's ministry. Due to this, we will operate independently of government licensure, allowing us to provide a more personalized and independent approach to education. (*This is underway).
Are you currently enrolling new families?
Absolutely! We're currently in the "pre-enrollment" phase, gathering information from families interested in joining Connecticut Cross Academy. Filling out a prospective family form doesn't constitute enrollment; it's part of the process each family must complete. Your input helps us estimate potential student numbers and plan resources for the upcoming year.
Should I pre-enroll? Can I wait until the official enrollment opens?
Pre-enrollment will allow you to receive priority during the official enrollment phase. Since we maintain a smaller classroom size, we are expecting to have waiting lists for certain grades. It is helpful to pre-enroll to secure your spot.
Where are you located?
We are in the process of procuring a facility. That will be established once the Pre-Enrollment phase is completed. However, we are looking for buildings in the Trumbull, Stratford, Shelton, Milford areas of Connecticut.
What grades are currently offered?
We are actively pre-enrolling Kindergarten through 8th grade. We will eventually expand to High School, however, in the meantime, high school students will be offered special drop-in courses. (You may still pre-register if you only have a child in high school who would want to be a part of our special course classes).
What will be the student-teacher ratio in each classroom?
We are capping our classes at 12 students. We believe in maintaining an individualized approach and upholding excellence, necessitating smaller classroom sizes.
What is the educational background of your teachers?
We are currently in the process of hiring teachers to join Connecticut Cross Academy. As a 508c1a organization, we have the flexibility to hire individuals with various teaching backgrounds. Our aim is to recruit passionate individuals gifted in teaching, providing them with training and professional development to ensure they continue to grow in their roles. We are currently looking for certified teachers, retired educators, early childhood specialists and experienced homeschooling parents. If you are interested in applying, please contact us directly via the 'About Us' page.
What curriculum will you be using?
We will be using a variety of curricula across subjects at CCA. All curricula selected and taught will be from a Biblical Worldview
How much will this cost?
We are still finalizing costs, however, we believe that a Christian education should not be unattainable financially. While we do understand that any financial investment is a sacrifice, our goal is to make it affordable for families. At the moment, we are anticipating costs to vary between $5,500 - $6,000 per student per year. This covers the cost of a facility, teacher salaries, curriculum, and operating expenses. We will also have sibling discounts for families who have multiple children. For more information regarding the financial strategy of CCA, please visit the About Us page.
What are the school day hours?
The school day will begin at 8:00 AM, with the doors opening at 7:30 AM, and the school day will conclude at 2:30 PM. At this time we do not have after-school care planned, however, this need may be communicated with the CCA team during pre-enrollment.
Are we a church?
Yes! Connecticut Cross Academy is a separate and lawful private organization, operating solely as a faith-based church, in accordance with Title 26 USC section 508c1a. This means that Connecticut Cross Academy is a not for-profit entity of any kind and is entirely separate from any publicly traded or governmental organization. We are governed by Judeo-Christian principles though we do not have pastors, deacons, elders, etc.
Are there requirements to join?
Yes! Each family must apply to be a part of Connecticut Cross Academy. An evaluation of each application will take place to ensure that the families who seek to be a part of our community, align with our mission and core values. Once accepted, families must also complete a membership agreement form to solidify their commitment to our organization.
Will you accept students with special needs or learning disabilities?
At this time we are unable to enroll students with learning disabilities. We do however wish to offer this in the future.
Are vaccinations required?
We believe that it is the parent/guardians right to decide what is best for their children and family. We do not require or ask for any medical records.
What are the next steps once I've Pre-Enrolled?
Once our pre-enrollment phase has been completed, you will be contacted directly once official enrollment has begun. At that point, membership fees and initial enrollment fees will be due along with the additional application and membership agreement. If there are any follow up questions for your family following pre-enrollment, some from the CCA team will contact you directly.
Ready to Pre-Enroll?
Remember, this is NOT an official enrollment. By filling out this form, you are not enrolled, you are only expressing commitment and helping the CCA team plan.
